Cumberland University is located in Lebanon, Tennessee and is a private university. It was established in the year 1842. Between 1892 and 1896, the existing campus structures were completed.

The Tennessee Baptist Convention took over the school in 1946, ending the Cumberland Presbyterian Church’s century of existence.
