A bachelors degree is required for major airlines
Most major airlines require you to have a bachelor’s degree. The aviation industry recognizes that flying is an extremely technical and specialized job, and they want pilots who are well-educated in their field. If you want to be hired by one of these airlines, you must have a bachelor’s degree in aviation, aeronautical science or aviation management. If you don’t have the required education level after graduating from high school, many community colleges offer flight training programs where students can earn their private pilot license before moving on to another college program.
A bachelor’s degree is not required for all types of jobs within an airline company (such as mechanic). However, most people seeking employment at smaller regional airlines will need some sort of postsecondary education above high school level because there aren’t always openings available for inexperienced pilots who haven’t earned any type of degree yet still want a chance at flying professionally someday
